John Lennon Bio-Pic Features Vivien Of Holloway Dress

This year’s London Film Festival featured as it’s climax the well received “Nowhere Boy”.  Due to open on Boxing Day, the film is a touching music bio-pic tracking John Lennon’s early life from 1955 and explores John’s relationship with his Aunt Mimi and his ‘Aunt’ Julia later revealed to him as his estranged mother. Aaron Johnson portrays a rebellious young John growing up in a stifling post-war Liverpool capturing Lennon’s essence to perfection whilst the film’s director Sam Taylor-Wood and director of photography Seamus McGarvey bring to life John’s 1955 surrounds with loving care. The film’s costume designer Barbara Herman-Skelding approached VOH for the perfect dress for Anne-Marie Duff to wear as the beautiful Julia, John’s mother.
She chose a VOH 1950’s style halterneck swing dress in one of Vivien’s lovely retro print fabrics ‘Monaco’. Monaco was one of this past Summer’s best sellers and lead the VOH vintage print range which in 2010 will feature many new fabrics so watch this space!

Sadly Come Dancing

Boo hoo! VOH favourite Ali Bastian with weekend became the 13th celeb to be voted off BBC One’s SCD. The pressure was really on for Ali & Brian who scored the lowest points and with no dance off to save them, they were automatically eliminated.

The lovely Ali was pictured in the 7th of November Daily Mail Weekend magazine wearing our ever popular 1950’s style halterneck dress in red with white spots. Vivien Of Holloway wish Ali all the best.
